Authorities are investigating a shooting at the Briarwood Apartments on Duke Avenue in Fort Smith. Officers were called to the apartment complex on Thursday, October 8th, just after 1pm, responding to a shots fired complaint according to Fort Smith PD. On sight, one female gunshot victim was found and according to police, the suspect fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.
The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment, but no other information is available at this time. Authorities are currently searching the apartment and surrounding area for evidence.
