Las Vegas has reopened to tourists, and while wearing masks and social distancing is encouraged in casinos, judging by pictures and videos, not many folks are abiding by the recommendations. Well, it turns out one casino group found a way to get some of those folks to comply – money.
Caesars Entertainment, which currently has five open casinos on The Strip, launched a promotion in which a team of employees walked around Caesars Palace, Paris, Flamingo, The Linq and Harrah's offering $20 bucks to encourage guests to wear a mask. Only Caesars Rewards members were eligible for the free 20 bucks but it’s pretty simple to sign up and become one. By the end of the weekend the company shelled out $7,500 to 375 guests.
Nevada is one of the states seeing an uptick in COVID-19 cases since reopening. In fact, while masks were originally onlly recommended for gamblers, now the Nevada Gaming Commission is requiring gamblers to wear masks at table games with no barriers. Some folks are even urging them to make it mandatory for visitors in all public spaces.
