Maren Morris Performs 'To Hell And Back' At The CMT Awards

Maren Morris has been to hell and back—and she's going to sing about it.

On Wednesday (October 21), the 30-year-old country star performed a beautiful rendition of her song 'To Hell and Back' at the CMT Awards. Accompanied by just one other guitar player for her performance, Morris' appearance at the awards show highlighted her stunning vocal talent.

'To Hell and Back' is the second single from Morris' sophomore studio album Girl. She dropped the track back in March, just as the country began to head into a shutdown as a result of the burgeoning COVID-19 pandemic. Seven months later, however, the pandemic continues to spread throughout the country leaving Morris' song feeling more relevant for fans than ever. "My wings are frayed and what's left of my halo's black," Morris croons.

Morris recently opened up to People about getting to perform again after live shows were put on hold as a result of the pandemic. "It really is a tough hit for our industry. I miss seeing a bunch of people come together for a positive cause and, no matter what walk of life you're coming from, to stand in a room with a bunch of strangers that just want to hear live music and their favorite song," she told the outlet.Though performances are quite different for the time being—Morris performed at home with no audience for the CMT Awards—she said she "treasures" live performances even more now.

In addition to her gorgeous performance, Morris was also nominated for Best Female Video for 'The Bones' at the CMT Awards.
