TMSG: Brothers Making 3K Mile Journey Across America For Restaurant Workers

New Jersey brothers and former bartenders Aiden and Louis Ardine are making a 3,000 mile trek across America to support restaurant workers after the pandemic.

After the brothers saw how their peers in the restaurant industry were heavily impacted by the pandemic, they were moved to help. The brothers were laid off from their bartending jobs at the start of the pandemic and moved home. Then they returned to their jobs for the summer before leaving the jobs again due to decreased wages and fear of exposing their family to the virus. Aiden told CBS New York, "Getting sick, exposing your family, making less money. We just feel like our industry kind of got left behind a little bit."

The brothers teamed up with nonprofit advocacy group Restaurant Workers' Community Foundation with a goal of raising $30,000. That's about $10 a mile. They will be walking more than 3,000 miles starting from Asbury Park to the Redwood National Forest outside of San Francisco. The brothers estimate the trek will take five months and they will be camping out or relying on the kindness of strangers along the way.
