Bobby Finds Out Stanley The Bulldog Needs To Lose Weight

Dr. Josie called into The Bobby Bones Show and shared some unpleasant news about Bobby Bones dog Stanley.

She informed him that Stanley is overweight and needs to lose five pounds by eating less food. This morning when Bones fed him, he put a smaller portion in his bowl and felt bad because he could tell Stanley wondered where the rest of his food was. Before this, he was not measuring Stanley’s food and would just blindly scoop his food and let him eat however much he wanted. Now, he needs to measure out a thimble of food twice a day for him. Dr. Josi assured Bones that doing that amount of food will help Stanley live longer and feel better so it’s worth it. Bulldogs can live up to 12-13 years old, but the average is around 10 years old. Stanley’s currently 67 pounds and she’d like him to be 62 pounds and thinks it will take six months for him to lose weight.

Dr. Josie also answered some other dog questions like if it’s okay to let dogs sit in the front seat of a car. She shared it’s dangerous because if you get in a wreck, they can fly through the windshield. She suggested getting a doggy seatbelt and harness if you’re going to have them in the front passenger seat. Bones also shared that he’s never brushed his dogs' teeth and Dr. Josi noticed an issue with their other dog, Eller’s back teeth.  Dr. Josi saw Eller had heavy plaque and tarter on her back teeth, which is normal for her age. She recommends brushing your dog's teeth at least once a week.

Dr. Josie’s new episode of In The Vet’s Office is out now and Bones is the guest!
