The Bobby Bones Show shared a story about a man who rushed himself to the hospital after waking up with blue skin. The 42-year-old believed he was experiencing a medical emergency and doctors quickly began running tests to figure out what was wrong. Being blue can sometimes indicate someone isn’t breathing properly, so the hospital treated the situation seriously. It turned out the cause was far less serious. Doctors eventually discovered the color had come from dye on the man’s new navy bedsheets. After wiping part of his skin with an alcohol pad and seeing the blue come off, they realized the discoloration wasn’t a medical issue at all.
The story prompted everyone in the studio to share their own moments where they realized they had done something equally embarrassing. Bobby shared a time when he couldn’t get his car to start late at night in a parking lot. After trying for a while, he called someone to come help. When the man arrived, he immediately figured out the problem. The car was still in drive. Because the car wasn’t in park, it wouldn’t start. Once it was shifted into park, it started right away. Bobby said he felt so embarrassed that he just paid the guy and asked him to leave without telling anyone.
Lunchbox shared a similar moment involving a bathtub. He was cleaning his bathroom when he realized the tub wasn’t draining. Assuming it was clogged, he called a plumber to come fix it. When the plumber arrived, he simply flipped the small drain lever on the tub and the water drained instantly. Lunchbox said he had been using a stand-up shower for years and didn’t realize the drain stopper had been closed the entire time. The quick fix cost him about $150. He also shared a different experience with his wife’s car. He noticed a rattling sound coming from one of the speakers and assumed something was broken. He took the car to the dealership to have it checked. The problem turned out to be much simpler, a bottle of hand sanitizer had been sitting next to the speaker and was vibrating with the sound, creating the noise.
Morgan shared a memory from a cruise vacation she took with her parents when she was younger. At one of the ports, people were handing out cards advertising “free shots” before passengers returned to the ship. Morgan, who is afraid of needles, began to panic. She thought the cards meant visitors had to receive actual injections before boarding the cruise again. Her parents sat her down on the curb to explain that the cards were advertising free alcohol shots, not medical ones.
Eddie shared a story from his college days when he stopped for gas with his girlfriend, who is now his wife. While pumping gas, a man approached him asking for money because his truck had broken down. Eddie refused, but after going inside to pay for his gas, he returned to his truck and couldn’t get it to start. The same man was nearby and Eddie became convinced the stranger had somehow stolen gas from his truck while he was inside. He confronted the man and even pushed him. That’s when his girlfriend pointed out that Eddie was using the wrong set of keys to try to start the truck. She had the correct ones.
Amy shared a couple of her own stories as well. One time she left her car running for two hours in a parking garage while getting her hair done. Another time she left her phone at a clothing store in Austin while traveling. She realized the mistake during a layover in Florida and used a payphone to try to locate it. After making the call, she accidentally left her wallet at the payphone before boarding her flight. Despite the chaotic travel day, she eventually managed to get both her phone and her wallet back.
After hearing all the stories, the group agreed the man with the blue bedsheets probably shouldn’t feel too bad. Everyone has had moments like that.
