Blake Sheltonâs music has helped one little boy overcome the unimaginable.
Sammy Hodgett, 8, was diagnosed with T-Cell Lymphoblastic Leukemia at age 5 and, shortly thereafter, fell into a nearly six-week coma from a reaction to his chemotherapy treatment.
Against all odds, the little Illinois native awoke, and Blakeâs 2013 hit âBoys âRound Hereâ was the first song he recognized.
âWhen he would actually be like, âI recognize that song,â it just is overwhelming,â Sammyâs mom Becky told local news station News Eight.
When Blake got wind of Sammyâs story, he invited him and his family to his February 23rd concert at the TaxSlayer Center in Moline, IL.
While the little survivor and his family are thankful for Blakeâs generosity, they know they have a lot already to be thankful for.
âWeâre all here, weâre all together,â Becky says, âheâs not in the hospital, itâs amazing.â
Blakeâs Country Music Freaks Tour kicks off February 15 in Oklahoma.
