The Oscars are on Sunday (2/24) and along with the golden statuette we can also expect thank-you speeches. New research from Georgia Tech discovered that speeches have become considerably longer over the years. In the 1960s, a typical speech was about 40 seconds long. Now it averages nearly two minutes, although the orchestra is always ready to cut off a speech that runs too long.
